Summary: Eldest Princess asks Fangfei to tea.


The garden is lovely, as lovely as the viper in its center.

Fangfei clenches her fingers in her skirts when the maids withdraw. It doesn't matter. The stone-faced servants would see nothing even if they stayed.

“Have you ever killed someone with your own hands?”

Eldest Princess glances up, one winged brow rising gently. “It changes you.. or so I thought. Your husband is a remarkable liar.”

The shock of that admission almost stuns Fangfei to silence, but the words, oh, those require a response. “I have no husband.”

“Good. If you can remember that, you might survive the day.”
