The theme this time made me immediately think of superheroes (Batgirl specifically, but I expanded it to include other female superheroes). But while these are recs for superhero stories, they're not stories in which there's much (if any) physical combat. Instead, they're about the struggle for a normal life and/or relationship, because if there's one thing that comics have taught me, it's that regardless of powers, that is a far harder fight for a superhero than simply punching someone in the face.

Evidence of Things Not Seen by pellucid - Wonder Woman, Diana & Leslie Anderson, G. Diana is blinded, but looking for answers. Well written and I like the uncertainty here.

Here In The Clouds by brandnewfashion - Marvel 616, Peter Parker/Carol Danvers, G. A serious conversation about superhero-ing that leads into adorable rooftop flirting.

One Step At a Time by blueofthebay (alemara) - Birds of Prey, Barbara Gordon, T. Babs teaches a self-defense class. First person POV that feels very true to Babs and her stubbornness and practicality.

Ordinary Days by Hinn_Raven - Titans (mostly), Donna/Jason, Dick/Babs, T. Donna/Jason is not a pairing I ever really envisioned, but this makes it work. They're two broken people learning to be a little less so together. A little overly domestic at the end for my tastes, but I liked the rest enough to rec it anyway.

Put All Your Faults to Bed by hauntedlittledoll (gypsydancergirl) - Batgirl, Stephanie Brown & Damian Wayne, G. Steph reassures Damian after he makes a mistake. Adorable and very in-character.

Through the Jungle, Through the Dark by andymcnope (shipperfey) - Birds of Prey, Barbara Gordon & Dinah Lance, G. Babs and Dinah go on vacation and nothing blows up. Cute and sweet, with great dialogue and touching introspection.

we can do the zarathustra by pummelwhack - Marvel 616, Jessica Drew/Kate Bishop, M. Even superheroes can do stupid things while on the rebound. Fantastic characterization and very real emotions.

You Only Live Twice by redbrunja - Batgirl, Stephanie Brown/Jason Todd, G. Bats and holidays don't really mix. Well-written, sweet, and very much like the comic.
