In the Quiet of the Night

It was just after midnight, and Justen should have been asleep. Ostensibly, he and Xan had gone to bed early because they both had early morning meetings – he with a judge, and Xan with a new client. He was tired, pleasantly sore and sated, but it was tough to succumb to sleep just yet. Xan was sprawled across his chest, his wings stretched to cover them both, and he was so beautiful and peaceful and content that Justen wanted to hold on to the moment a little longer. He could make up for lost sleep, but not for missing this.
