Title: The Least She Could Do
Fandom: InuYasha
Rating: Gen
Length: 200 words
Summary: Kagome gets ready to go back through the well.

When the bag was packed and there was nothing left to do but jump through the well and go back to her friends in the Sengoku Jidai, Kagome paused and smiled a little ruefully. The big, much-abused yellow backpack was filled to the brim with modern convenience foods and a sizeable first aid kit, plus candy for Shippou and small gifts for Miroku and Sango, all stacked on top of her textbooks, of course.

She knew she probably shouldn't take such things back in time with her, and had a vague idea that doing so could potentially interfere with the timeline. She thought she'd seen something like that in a movie once, or something.

But these were her friends, people she cared about more than almost anything in the entire world. There were so few things she could do to help them or make them smile, and she had caused them so very much trouble already, and knew she was very likely to cause them more trouble in the near future. She owed them all so much…

She hefted the backpack, staggered a bit under the weight, and headed determinedly toward the well.

This was the least she could do.
