Comfort: Silmarillion: Fanfic: Losgar
Title: Losgar
Fandom: The Silmarillion
Challenge: Comfort
Rating: G
Length: 100
Content notes: Concerns battle, and betrayal.
Author notes: Thanks go to Morgynleri & Runa for encouragement & sanity-checking.
Summary: Words were no comfort, not after such deeds.
They told themselves (Makalaure told them, that made it true), they burned the ships for the material in them, the nails and metal.
They did sift the sand and ashes for iron and steel, copper and bronze, anything useful the flames left. They did not sift the black bones of the yrch-things that came down upon them in the firelight.
They told themselves the dark ichor dripping from their bright swords (they would be bright again, silver-bright, not baleful blue, with clear water and clean sand to wash blades and hands and ashen, ashy faces with) was not once-Elven blood.
