Sara is not afraid.

She's not a lot of things, really. Well fed, for one - she nearly killed herself bolting a(n objectively quite sad, almost depressing) ration pack. (And nearly got skewered by a ninja for the sudden movement. Sara's aware of that, in a distant, didn't happen so it doesn't matter kind of way.) Well dressed, for another - she's the shortest of their little group by about a foot, and they weren't carrying spare clothing when they picked her up, either. Robes cover a lot of sins, sure, but cloaks? Cloaks fastened by jerryrigged scarves so Sara doesn't keep tripping on the hems? Not so much. She not sure she's even entirely sane, anymore.

As Nyssa long-name-which-might-have-been-a-list-of-titles (Sara had been zoning, a bit, in and out, even after food and a nap leads her through hallways and into a packed hall, Sara remains only ninety per cent convinced that she isn't a hallucination. That she isn't still floating back to the island.

It’s not that Sara has courage, when Nyssa presents her to the figure on the throne. She simply, Sara reflects, lacks any fear of dying. She's seen it, been too close to it, too many times for that.

So she laughs.
