X-Men First Class: Drabble: Whatever Works
Title: Whatever Works
Fandom: X-Men: First Class
Character: Darwin
Rating: G
W/C: 88 (sorry!)
Content notes: drabble for Challenge 70 Resolutions
Author notes: preposterous science, but then this is X-Men; also, these wind maps were inspiring and helpful.
Summary: it's the thought that counts
It feels amazing, energy swelling every cell. He longs to reassure Alex, but soon he is aware only of himself, burning but not consumed, crumbling but not breaking, resolving into a collection of atoms, no longer coherent yet still Armando.
Drifting along the Blue Ridge Mountains he remembers grinning at friends from a fish tank. The thought binds atoms into molecules, so over Detroit he imagines Xavier explaining it. Sure enough, molecules begin recalling their patterns. Crossing the Potomac he thinks of Alex’s smile and begins to glide.
