Farscape/Star Wars: Fanfic: Safety and Silence
Title: Safety and Silence
Fandom: Farscape, Star Wars
Rating: Teen
Length: 518 words
Author Notes: Follows on This Is No Fairytale, but should stand alone.
Summary: Rogue One are introduced to Talyn.
The ship is something only familiar in that it echoes the lines of the shuttle and the air support that had gotten them off Scarif alive, but that makes it a welcome sight to those crowded into the little shuttle. Bodhi watches Crais, though, and can see the small, warm smile that curls the man's lips as he reaches up to touch the cybernetics on the back of his neck. Whatever the ship is, it means more to him than just a welcome sight of rescue.
A port large enough for the shuttle opens on one side, letting them into a hanger, before the air support follows them - air support which hasn't communicated with them that anyone can recall. A ship which doesn't release a pilot even as they pile out of the shuttle into the cool air of the ship. And there is no one to meet them except a handful of what look like strange mouse droids.
"The DRDs will show you to available quarters." Crais beckons Bodhi and Cassian to follow him, while the mouse droids - DRDs - chirp at the others, the stalks which glow at the ends waving a moment before they head off down a different corridor than the one Crais is heading for. "The medical bay is this way. The corridors connect fore and aft, but it is swifter not to go through guest quarters."
"You could have sent a DRD to show us the way. Don't you have to tell your crew you're back?" Bodhi keeps close behind Crais, watching and listening for any sign of other habitation. The lack is starting to be unnerving.
"Talyn already knows, and he doesn't require my assistance to set a course." Crais waves a hand over a control panel, doors opening to reveal a medical bay that's only half-familiar. The tank in the corner is a relief to see, though Bodhi doesn't know if there's bacta to use with it. "He'll wait to starburst until everyone is settled. We'll set the bacta tank after." Crais's lips twist into a small smile, his eyes bright with some private amusement. "It's extremely disorienting otherwise."
Cassian moves to one of the beds, settling onto it with a small wince. "I'd rather spend the three weeks waiting for everything to stop spinning than be dead." He leans back, closing his eyes. "You don't want to be standing for your first experience of a starburst, though."
The bed is more comfortable than Bodhi expects, and he watches as Crais simply moves to lean against the wall, his head tilted back and eyes closed. There's the same warm smile as on the shuttle, and Bodhi wonders what it is that he knows that he isn't sharing.
He'll have to ask later, as something happens that even if someone had asked him to describe he'd be unable to. Other than to give it the name that Crais and Cassian had, starburst. It's not like hyperspace, which he understands and is familiar with. It certainly isn't sub-light travel, though he won't know that until after he's out of the bacta.
